Jodi Roth-Saks ’08 MA

Jodi Roth-Saks ’08 MA recently joined United Way of Chester County’s board. Prior to joining the board, Jodi helped to assess agency funding requests as part of United Way’s Community Impact Teams.

Dr. Steven Stack ’69 (CLAS), ’70 MA, ’73 MA, ’76 Ph.D

Dr. Steven Stack ’69 (CLAS), ’70 MA, ’73 MA, ’76 Ph.D received the Stengel Award for outstanding research on suicide. The award is given by the International Association for Suicide Prevention since 1977. Stack is the first sociologist to receive this award, the world’s most prestigious research award in the field of suicide studies.

Christen Hernandez ’08 (SFA, ED) and Dan Campolieta ’08 (SFA, ED)

Dan Campolieta ’08 (SFA, ED) is the pianist for The United States Army Chorus, the vocal component of The United States Army Band, “Pershing’s Own”, and Christen Hernandez ’08 (SFA, ED) teaches classroom music and directs choirs at National Cathedral School in Washington, D.C. This summer, taking a break from their day-jobs, they performed together at the Kennedy Center’s Millenium Stage.

Cynthia Harakaly ’12 MA and Shane Gibson ’12 MS

Cynthia Harakaly ’12 MA and Shane Gibson ’12 MS were married April 14, 2017 in Sedona, Ariz. They met at UConn in 2011 and moved to Arizona in 2013. Cynthia is a high school counselor at Mingus Union High School and Shane is a professor of mathematics at Yavapai College.

Courtney Dinnan ’12 (CLAS) and David Knapp ’10 (ED)

Courtney Dinnan ’12 (CLAS) and David Knapp ’10 (ED) were married on May 28, 2017 and celebrated with many fellow proud UConn alumni including UConn Huskies basketball player Neils Giffey.
While at UConn, Courtney competed for the Huskies as a 3-sport athlete and captain of the women’s cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field teams.

Lindsey Reinert ’08 MA

Lindsey Reinert ’08 MA has recently received her Doctorate of Education specialized in Gifted Education from the University of Denver in June 2017. Her dissertation title was “The Limitations on Colorado School Districts Adoption of an Early Access Addendum Process”. This will be her eighteenth year in education and she plans to continue her position as a coordinator of Gifted Education with the largest school district in the state of Colorado.

Steve Maguire ’75 (CLAS), ’76 MA

Steve Maguire (Stephen C.) ’75 (CLAS), ’76 MA, has just released a Vietnam War novel, Mekong Meridian. Much of the story is drawn from Maguire’s experience as an Airborne-Ranger Infantry officer with the 9th Division in 1969. Available from Amazon.

Lois Greene Stone ’55 (ED)

Lois Greene Stone ’55 (ED) was selected by the The Smithsonian National Museum of American History to represent all the teens from the 1940s and 50s. Available also to be seen online, the snapshot of her wearing a felt skirt with horse appliques her father had commissioned to be designed and made for her, and a silk blouse she handmade, was taken in her UConn dorm room, although The Smithsonian superimposed the picture in a stereotypical room of that time-period. The skirt was accessioned by The Smithsonian and displayed in 1974 in The Division of Costume’s exhibit Suiting Everyone.

She is a writer and poet, has been syndicated worldwide. Poetry and personal essays have been included in hard & softcover book anthologies. Collections of her personal items/ photos/ memorabilia are in major museums including twelve different divisions of The Smithsonian.

When a black and white photo of a child holding a ball was to be part of The Strong Museum’s National Toy Hall of Fame after the ball was inducted, the black and white photo in the permanent showcase is of her.

She married Dr. Gerald E. Stone, MD, FACP. in 1956. She has 15 grandchildren and, so far, 3 great-grandchildren.

Leighangela (Byer) Brady, Ed.D. ’94 (ED), ’95 MA

Leighangela (Byer) Brady, Ed.D. ’94 (ED), ’95 MA graduate of Neag School of Education was selected as Superintendent of National School District in San Diego, Calif. beginning the 2016-17 school year.

Jennifer Rogers ’93 MA

Jennifer Rogers ’93 MA was promoted to Associate Director, Employer Relations at the University of St. Thomas (MN) Career Development Center.
