George E. Deane of St. Augustine, Florida passed away on August 9th, 2018. The son of the late George P. and Nellie (Shaw) Deane, he was born in Brockton, Massachusetts, and attended secondary school in Middleboro, Massachusetts. He graduated Cum Laude from Brown University, where he was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Society and the Society of Sigma Xi. After receiving his MS degree from the University of Connecticut he served in the US Army where he was assigned to the Human Research Unit of the Continental Army Command at Fort Ord, California. Upon being discharged from the Army, he returned to the University of Connecticut where he received his PhD in Experimental Psychology. The major portion of his professional career was spent at the State University of New York where he was a Professor of Psychology and also served as Chairman of the Department and Director of Graduate Studies. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doris, daughter of the late Perry and Isabel Eaton of Wollaston, Massachusetts; daughter, Donna of Jacksonville, Florida; sons, Douglas of Charlotte, North Carolina, and David (Elizabeth) of Boise, Idaho; grandson, Jason; and great-grandsons, Elijah, Ian, Kaden, & Rowan.
