What is the CareerNet for?

The CareerNet is a networking tool for UConn alumni and students. Wherever you are in your career you can tap into the vast array of expertise and experience of UConn's graduates. Learn more about an industry, a company, a relocation destination, and more. Students or alumni may view and contact other alumni who have volunteered to share their expertise.

I already signed up as a mentor through my school/college. Am I already a mentor in the CareerNet?

If you completed your CareerNet profile through the Business Alumni Network, then yes, you are available in the Husky Alumni Network's CareerNet.

Otherwise, any participant in other mentoring programs that you may have signed up for previously is not automatically included in the CareerNet. The CareerNet is an opt-in system, so any new user wishing to share their advice and experience must complete their CareerNet profile in order to be included in the system.

Can I deactivate my profile?

Yes, you can deactivate your CareerNet profile easily and for any period of time by changing your Profile Status to Inactive. Changing your profile status allows you to manage your participation in the network. Active status means other users can review your profile and contact you. Inactive profiles are not erased or deleted from the system, they simply cannot be viewed by other users. That is, your profile will not come up in any networking search.

If you decide to opt out until a specific date, you will be automatically reinstated at that time. You may also opt out indefinitely by selecting "until further notice", in which case your profile will remain suspended until you choose to make it active. If you are going on an extended vacation, or if other circumstances prohibit you from staying involved, deactivating your profile would be an appropriate option for you.

To change your Profile Status, log in and click on 'My Profile' at the top of the page. Click on Update next to Profile Status.

Your information is not lost or deleted when you de-activate your account. Your information is simply not viewable to other users. It is saved and will be viewable again when you re-activate your account.
