The Art of Connecting: Works by Alumni, Spring 2009
An art show featuring works from Phyllis Dowd '58, John Cudworth '81 and Wendy Jacobs '74 takes place in the Student Union Art Gallery, Room 310. The show will include pottery, framed photos and prints.

  • "Time Traveler: A Scientist's Personal Mission to Make Time Travel a Reality"
    Can time travel really happen? Learn more from UConn Physics professor Ronald Mallett. Hosted by Walt Woodward, History Professor Emeriti and Connecticut State Historian. Following the presentation, staff members will be available to talk with alumni about what is happening within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
  • What's Buzzzz-ing at UConn?
    Experience the beekeeping experiment first-hand that will eventually provide over 2,000 pounds of honey for UConn dining halls.
  • School of Nursing Alumni Reception with Dean Anne Bavier

3:30 pm - 4:15 pm

Tour the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Biotech Complex with Dean Gregory Weidemann
The combination of the Advanced Technology Laboratory, the Agricultural Biotechnology Laboratory together with the state of the art greenhouses is known as the BioScience Complex. By combining the buildings in this way the research activities of the scientists in the buildings benefit from the intellectual interaction, collaboration and efficient sharing of equipment and facilities. These buildings represent a major component of the University’s program in advanced biological research and its support for Connecticut’s knowledge-based economy.

3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

  • Open Houses, Office Hours and Campus Tours
    Visit any of the Cultural Centers or the Dean’s offices and learn about new programs and initiatives in those areas. Or take a campus bus tour and see what has changed since your last trip to Storrs.

  • History of the School of Engineering - by Win Hilding
    Be dazzled by the history of the School of Engineering as the School's unofficial historian, Dr. Win Hilding, provides highlights of your alma mater. The presentation takes place in the F.L. Castleman building, room 212.

4:30 pm - 5:00 pm

Tour of the Dairy Bar

The Dairy Bar tour will include how milk is picked up for ice cream making, what ingredients and processing methods are used to make mix, and a description of how mix is made into ice cream. We will also discuss differences in how various flavors are made, as well as how the ice cream is packaged and stored at the Dairy Bar.

5:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Alumni Weekend Reception and Dinner - UConn: Yesterday and Today
Share memories and swap UConn stories with your classmates and current students. Also features a special presentation of the Class of 1959 and Class of 2009 gifts to the University.
