Christine Lodewick '67

The UConn Alumni Association honors Christine Lodewick for her dedication to improving the quality of services to students and alumni of the University of Connecticut. She received an M.A. (1967) in Speech Pathology from UConn, where she met her husband, Philip Lodewick, who also completed B.S. (1966) and MBA (1967) degrees from the same institution. While working as a Speech Pathologist, Lodewick served for two terms on the UConn Alumni Association Board of Directors while simultaneously acting as Co-Chair of the Alumni Campaign and a member of the Programs and Outreach Committees, and served on the Provost's Commission on the Status of Women.She was a pioneer of the women’s philanthropy movement in higher education, helping to develop the Women’s Philanthropy Council at the University of Wisconsin and Indiana University School of Philanthropy, which lead to the organization of the UConn Women's Leadership Council. Additionally, Christine and Philip have endowed the Lodewick Teachers for a New Era Scholarship Fund and a Lodewick Endowment for the Advancement of Diversity, as well as built the Lodewick Visitors Center to enable prospective students to appreciate the breadth and potential of the University of Connecticut experience. Christine and Philip enjoy hosting university events and open their home each August for the Annual Freshmen Picnic for new UConn students from Fairfield County, and have jointly received a University Service Award.
